Free to join. Pay only for the work.
Credits, not subscriptions. One credit is one cent of usage. Every paid action shows its maximum before it runs, reserves that maximum, then settles for what actually happened and gives the rest back. The receipt shows exactly what was used.
Maximums you approve, receipts you can read.
HuntFish routes each question to the cheapest configured path that meets its quality, evidence and privacy needs, then quotes the worst case for that path. Retail usage is 3× the metered provider cost, rounded once per job — the multiplier is public and versioned.
| Kind of work | What you get | The most it can cost |
|---|---|---|
| A technique or gear question | Quick answers on technique, gear and animal behavior. | Up to 7.8 credits |
| A question that depends on rules or conditions | Checked against official sources and linked — or it tells you it couldn’t confirm. | Up to 9.3 credits |
| A research question or Scout step | Several sources read, compared and linked. Held to your per-Scout maximum (25 credits by default) instead of the 10-credit per-question maximum. | Up to 18 credits |
| A Sandbar Scout search | Aerial photos, charts and local reports checked for the best sandbar near you. The maps-only search is free. | Up to 24.3 credits |
| A Lease Scout letter | Owner lookup from public parcel records, editable letter, printed proof, one First Class mailing after you confirm. | $4.99 · or 3 for $12.99 (coming soon) |
| Identifying a photo | What’s in your photo, and how sure it is. | Up to 6 credits |
Caps you control.
If a request would exceed a cap, HuntFish asks you to narrow it or raise the cap. It never runs first and asks later.

Refunds
If a paid action fails on our side, nothing is charged — the reservation is released automatically and the receipt says so. If a purchase is refunded or disputed with your payment provider, the matching credits are removed from your balance. Questions about a specific charge: support, with the receipt id.
